Paul Dickov: Aware that landing quality loan recruits may be difficult
Doncaster Rovers boss Paul Dickov hopes there may be a few hidden gems still to be unearthed in the loan market.
He concedes that this is not the ideal time to be looking at bringing in fresh faces, with most clubs having already sanctioned exits.
Dickov will, however, continue to scour the market for possible new recruits.
He is still in need of defensive reinforcements and hopes a suitable option can be found before the window of opportunity slams shut.
Dickov said in the Doncaster Free Press: "It's difficult because most clubs who wanted to do business did it when the loan window opened.
"A majority of clubs now want to keep their squads intact until the end of the season. That's understandable, but we're trying."
Dickov could do with fresh faces to aid Doncaster's quest to secure Championship survival, with back-to-back wins edging them clear of trouble but only opening up a seven-point gap on the drop zone.
"Our position improved quickly over just two games but if anything, it lets us know how tight it is," said the Rovers boss.
"If we lose a couple of games we can get sucked right back into it, which is something we're very wary of.
"We go to Forest (on Saturday) with a lot of confidence. Getting those two wins gives us a bit of breathing space.
"It's a lot easier looking at the other results after we've won our games and it was a pleasure on Tuesday night.
"In the last 11 games we want to extend that gap but if we can't, we just need to keep picking up points."
