Barry Bannan has warned Manchester City that they face a difficult task trying to claim all three points from a Crystal Palace side bursting with confidence.

City beat West Brom on Monday night to close the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool to six points, with the Merseysiders having played a game more than Manuel Pellegrini's men.

And Bannan says Palace, who made it five wins in a row with a 1-0 victory at West Ham on Saturday, are a side than any team should be afraid of playing.

"They should definitely," Bannan told Sky Sports News when asked if City should be worried ahead of their visit to Selhurst Park next weekend.

"We're on a five-game winning run at the minute and we've played some very good teams in amongst there as well.

"Obviously we're safe now as well - we're playing without any fear and I think for any team coming here to Palace they won't be looking forward to it.

"Confidence is high and we can't wait to play the game."

Tony Pulis has presided over a remarkable turnaround in Palace's fortunes since replacing Ian Holloway as the club's manager in November, guiding the team to safety with three games to go.

Bannan paid tribute to the manager for breathing new life into the players since his arrival at the club.

"As a group of boys we all knew what we had in the squad and we knew what we were capable of doing," the midfielder said.

"The new gaffer has come in and done an unbelievable job and I think where we are now is probably a bit further up than we thought we would be.

"The main thing he did was work with the team and on the team as a unit.

"I think you can see with the clean sheets we've had this season that we've defended from the front superbly.

"I think the main thing is that when we play teams they think that have to break us down and we've got players in the forward areas that can get you goals."
