Rangers have completed the signing of Northern Ireland international Steven Davis from Fulham.

Former loan star completes permanent switch

Rangers have completed the signing of Northern Ireland international Steven Davis from Fulham for an undisclosed fee. The finishing touches were put to the deal on Thursday, with the midfielder penning a four-year contract at Ibrox. Davis had spent the second half of last season with Walter Smith's men, helping them to lift two domestic trophies and reach the Uefa Cup final. He made no secret of his desire to turn that loan switch into a permanent one, and has now got his wish. Davis joins the Gers at an exciting time as, despite their disappointing European exit, Smith has been busy adding new faces to his squad. United States international Maurice Edu recently arrived in a £2.7million deal from Toronto, while Portuguese midfielder Pedro Mendes was snapped up for £3million from Portsmouth. Davis is expected to go straight into the Rangers squad for their SPL clash at Aberdeen on Saturday, but looks like facing stiff competition for a place in the starting XI.
