Bolton await winners of FA Cup fifth-round replay

Tottenham will be aiming to see off Stevenage at the second attempt on Wednesday and set up an FA Cup quarter-final against Bolton. Stevenage produced an excellent performance in the initial tie at Broadhall Way to hold their Premier League opponents to a goalless draw. Spurs struggled to carve out opportunities but will be confident of finding a way past the League One side in the midweek replay at White Hart Lane. Harry Redknapp's men will see the competition as a wonderful opportunity to claim some silverware, especially after back-to-back Premier League defeats against Arsenal and Manchester United effectively ended their title bid and left the focus firmly on securing a top-four finish. Stevenage have also struggled since the first meeting with Tottenham, picking up just two points in four league games to dent their play-off hopes.

Team news

Tottenham are set to field a relatively strong side as they welcome back Gareth Bale from illness and Scott Parker from suspension after the influential pair missed the loss to Manchester United. William Gallas could also feature after missing the last two months with a calf injury, with Ledley King set to be rested. Rafael van der Vaart remains doubtful with a calf injury, and Tom Huddlestone (ankle) is out. Chris Beardsley is a doubt for Stevenage. Boro's leading scorer missed the 1-1 draw at Exeter over the weekend after suffering a hamstring injury against Charlton a few days earlier. Should the striker fail to recover in time, Blackburn loanee Jordan Slew is likely to continue to lead the line alongside Craig Reid after making his debut against the Grecians. Jon Ashton shook off a head injury to play the full 90 minutes at St James Park and he is expected to resume his role in the heart of defence.
