QPR v Reading preview

QPR host the only other side still seeking their first Premier League win of the season as Reading visit Loftus Road looking to put the madness of their Capital One Cup exit behind them.

The Royals featured in a fourth-round cup thriller on Tuesday night as they were beaten 7-5 by Arsenal after extra-time at the Madejski Stadium. Brian McDermott's side will have felt aggrieved to have lost that encounter after storming 4-0 ahead in the first half only to collapse in the second. The promoted Royals travel to the capital desperate for a win after claiming just four points so far this term to sit third-bottom of the table, with a game in hand over their hosts. Mark Hughes' men are in an even worse position; rooted to the bottom of the standings with three points to their name, having lost six of their opening nine games. The two sides have already met once this season at Loftus Road, with Reading winning 3-2 in the third round of the Capital One Cup. But QPR won at home and on the road when they last met in the league in the 2010-11 season, when both sides were in the Championship.QPR captain Park Ji-sung has not trained all week due to a knee injury and is a major doubt for Sunday's game. Bobby Zamora has suffered a minor hip problem and could miss out, while Armand Traore is also struggling with a leg injury. Stephane Mbia starts his three-match suspension following his red card against Arsenal, while long-term absentees Fabio (hamstring) and Andrew Johnson (knee) remain sidelined.Reading midfielder Danny Guthrie misses Sunday's showdown because of a thigh strain. Midfielder Jem Karacan is sidelined with a knee injury that could keep him out until early December. Manager McDermott has no further injury problems to contend with.
