The versatile Lee stepped off the bench at half-time against Hereford on Tuesday with the Gills trailing 2-1 and duly grabbed a late brace to help secure a memorable 5-4 triumph. His crucial contribution will have left an impression on manager Andy Hessenthaler, who is sweating over the fitness of Weston having seen him forced off in the 77th minute with a knee complaint. Hessenthaler, who has named an unchanged line-up for the last four games, has already stressed Jack Evans will continue at right-back against the Pilgrims, leaving Lee as a contender to step into midfield should he be required. Defender Simon King's fitness will be assessed late on as usual as he continues to start following his recent return to the fold after injury, with the centre-back aiming to come up against a Plymouth side with whom he spent time on loan earlier this season.
