    Image: Widdowson: Back from suspension

Team news for Wednesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy quarter-final clash between Northampton and Leyton Orient at Sixfields.

Northampton will have Joe Widdowson back from suspension. Widdowson missed the A34 derby defeat against Oxford 10 days ago after picking up five yellow cards but he now returns to contention. Defender Clarke Carlisle will miss out as he must serve a suspension of his own following his dismissal in the Oxford game, although the centre-back is cup-tied anyway having featured for York. David Artell and John Johnson will be missing until the new year, while Alex Nicholls faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after a serious leg injury. The Cobblers were not in action at the weekend and the break has allowed many of the squad to rest and recover from niggles so boss Aidy Boothroyd has plenty of options available. Gary Sawyer returns to the Leyton Orient squad. Sawyer was suspended for Sunday's 4-2 FA Cup win over non-league Alfreton after collecting five yellow cards this season and could be recalled at left-back in place of Fulham loanee Alex Smith. Scott Cuthbert made his first appearance since August as a late substitute against Alfreton following a long-term hamstring injury and will be hoping to get some more game time. Fellow centre-half Nathan Clarke is struggling with an ankle injury and is unlikely to be risked. Boss Russell Slade could opt to rest veteran midfielders Lee Cook and Martin Rowlands, with Anthony Griffith and Jimmy Smith pushing for recalls to the first team.
