Garry Monk praises his team and staff after a 3-1 win at Newcastle

Swansea boss Garry Monk was delighted to see his side reach the 50-point mark in the Premier League after their victory 3-2 at Newcastle, but insists they will continue to push for the rest of the season.

Newcastle took an early lead at St James’ Park through Ayoze Perez, but Nelson Oliveira, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jack Cork struck back for Swansea before a late Siem de Jong consolation for the home side.

The result sees Swansea reach a half-century of points for the first time in the Premier League, but Monk is not looking to stop there.

"It was fantastic to break the points tally at a difficult place like this and it is a credit to my team, to my staff and everybody involved," he said.

"But I continuously push and always want more. We’re eighth and it’s important we cement that. We’ve been in the top 10 all season and we don’t want to come out.
