Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino admitted a top-four place may be beyond his side after a stalemate with Burnley.
Ahead of the trip to Turf Moor, Pochettino described the game as a "must-win", but the north Londoners could only manage a 0-0 draw against a club battling to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
Spurs are now seven points off fourth-placed Manchester City with a vastly inferior goal difference and Pochettino conceded his side face an uphill task to keep their European hopes alive.
"It is difficult but we have seven games, we will try," he said.
"It is true that it is not easy. This game was a very tough game and we need to try to win the most points possible in the next seven games.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Pochettino rued his side's inability to make the breakthrough - but did credit Sean Dyche's men with making the afternoon tough.
He said: “We don’t have the three points, and for that I am disappointed. I think that [looking back] after the game, Burnley pressured us and our performance was good, but not enough to win the game.
“I think that Burnley is a very difficult team here, and three weeks ago Manchester City lost. It’s a very difficult game.
"I think we created chances, maybe it was enough to score. But at the end, I’m disappointed for the result. At the end, the performance was good, but only one point."
After a drab first half, Pochettino tried to influence his side at the break, and he revealed he changed tactics in an attempt to win the game.
“I think that yes, we tried to fix something after the first half,” Pochettino said. “In the second half, we created some chances, but at the end the result was wrong.”
