The Football Association asked him to explain his obseravations but Monk has tried all he can to shield his players from the furore as he prepares them for Leicester's visit to the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

Fuss

"Leicester is a big game for us, it's one that we need to try and get back on track in terms of points accumulation," Monk said.

"We were straight back into work on Tuesday and the boys were very focused.

"We were very clear on Leicester and been working all week on Leicester, we've not even batted an eyelid on what happened at Stoke.

"The fuss was only caused outside, the fuss was never inside.

Concentrate

"I said to the players straight after the game 'whatever's said outside of here let me deal with that. You guys don't have to worry about anything, you worry about the football'.

"They just have to concentrate on improving as footballers and as a team and look forward to the next game.

"They're very clever and understand what I said and that's what they've been doing all week."
