Premier League: Burnley boss Sean Dyche lauds Chelsea's quality after 3-1 defeat

Burnley boss Sean Dyche lauded the quality of the opposition after his side were beaten 3-1 by Chelsea at Turf Moor.

It was looking very promising for the newly-promoted Lancashire side early on after Scott Arfield had given the Clarets the lead.

However, Chelsea's quality shone through in the end, and Dyche was keen to express just how difficult his side found it on their Premier League return.

"It is a reality of the market we are going into. That was really tough," Dyche told Sky Sports.

Sean Dyche was pleased with the will and demand of his side, but conceded Chelsea had too much quality in their 3-1 defeat at Turf Moor.

"They have power, quality and pace. They can hurt you in many different ways.

"When we scored a goal they looked angry. That is the reality at the top end. They can do that."

After achieving promotion from the Sky Bet Championship, Dyche has added six players to the squad, but the former Watford chieftain knows that his current personnel will struggle to compete with teams of Chelsea's calibre.

More from Burnley V Chelsea

"We will learn about inner quality and confidence after tonight," Dyche added.

"We know we have to stick to the game plan and I thought we did, and we were trying until the end.

"There are lots of things that we can look at, and many positives we can take out of the game.

"Our challenge is not at this end. The journey is different this season. We know who we must take points from.

"Tonight, that is the top of the market."
