Canaries boss hails team effort

Norwich manager Paul Lambert failed to hide his delight after guiding the club back to the Championship with a 1-0 win at Charlton. Michael Nelson's 33rd-minute header was enough to send the Canaries up at the ground where they had been relegated last year. The achievement was all the sweeter for Norwich after they had been hammered 7-1 by Colchester on the opening day of the season. And Lambert said: "I am absolutely delighted. For me it is fine, but for (owner) Delia Smith and her husband Michael, who took an awful lot of criticism over the years, it is wonderful. "I am more delighted for them than myself. I had kept telling the players that we had enough to get over the line. "It has been tough but I said when I started here last year if I got the players and fans on the same side, we'd be able to do this." "We had to do it this time, because you can languish if you stay there for two, three or four years. "We had to get out of it, just for the fan base. The number of fans we take away with us and their support, they deserve to be in a higher league."
