Miller explains Quakers stay

Ian Miller is hoping to force his way into first-team contention at Darlington on a regular basis.

Defender happy to fight for his place

Ian Miller is hoping to force his way into first-team contention at Darlington on a regular basis. The 25-year-old made just 16 starts for the Quakers last season as the club endured a difficult campaign off the field. Managerial changes hardly helped his cause, with Dave Penney opting to join Oldham in April. Experienced defender Alan White was handed the reins on a caretaker basis until the end of the season, but he has since moved to Luton. Miller is now hoping the appointment of Colin Todd at the Darlington Arena will help to bring some much-needed stability to the club, while also reigniting his own career. He told the club's official website: "I didn't want to jump ship straight away and the manager has come in and seemed to be very positive towards me. "I am 25 years old and I haven't played a great number of games. I could chase another club and be no better off. "When I spoke to the gaffer here and he told me to get my head down and work hard and I will get games. "I want to be in a position next season where I have an extra 50 odd games on my CV. That is the reason why I stayed."
