Shelley Kerr's Stirling University side draw on her managerial debut in men's football

Former Arsenal Ladies manager Shelley Kerr got off to an unbeaten start in her historic first match in charge of Scottish Lowland Football League side Stirling University.

Kerr became the first female boss to manage a senior men’s football team in Britain when her side drew 1-1 at home to Dalbeatie Star on Saturday.

It marks an instant improvement in Stirling University’s fortunes who had lost each of their opening three games prior to Kerr’s arrival as the club’s manager on Tuesday.

Kerr’s managerial debut got off to the worst possible start as the visitors took an early lead thanks to a stunning effort from former Kilmarnock and Annan Athletic striker Lewis Sloan.

But her side managed to get back on level terms through star striker and 2012 League Player of the Year Chris Geddes.

Stirling University’s next match is at home to Vale of Leithen on Wednesday night.
