Blackpool midfielder has a tumour removed from his testicle

Blackpool midfielder Keith Southern is to miss at least four weeks of action after having an operation to remove a tumour. The 30-year-old had surgery to move the lump from one of his testicles on Wednesday and is now awaiting the results. He has missed the last two fixtures for the Tangerines as they have slipped out of the play-off places. Ian Holloway's side have not won in three and will be without the influential midfielder for at least their next six matches. The Blackpool manager said: "Keith underwent an operation to remove a tumour from one of his testicles and is currently waiting for the results of his biopsy. "Initial signs are that the operation went well and he will be back training early in the New Year. "We spoke to him on Friday morning and he is in good spirits but gutted not to be involved in the next few fixtures. "It is typical of Keith that he was talking about returning to training and he wants to be back in action sooner rather than later."
