The Fantasy Football Club: Jonas Olsson picks his #One2Eleven

Jonas Olsson

West Brom defender Jonas Olsson picks his #One2 Eleven from team-mates at NEC, West Brom and the Sweden national team.

The Sweden international, who has made over 200 appearances for West Brom, has opted for a 4-4-2 formation...

Goalkeeper: GABOR BABOS

I played with the Hungarian international for three years at NEC in Holland. He’s very intelligent and very commanding from the back. He made it very easy for me to play as a centre half.

Right-back: ROB WIELART

A fantastic footballer. He’s very versatile. He came to NAC from PSV Eindhoven and stayed for a few years at our club. Then he went to play for Ajax so he’s had a great career.

Centre-back: OLOF MELLBERG

Obviously he used to play for Villa but for me he’s the complete centre half. I played with him when I came through in the Swedish national team and played Euro 2012 alongside him. I was sorry to leave Gareth McAuley out. He’s also one of the better ones I played with but he’s just missed out.

Centre-back: PETER WISGERHOF

Even though he’s a centre half he could play the ball out from the back. That’s what I like from a centre half.

Left-back: CHRIS BRUNT

It was a tough one. I wanted to go for Paul Robinson. A proper British left-back. A no nonsense defender but I decided to go with Chris Brunt. He’s a top man. He’s got an amazing left foot and he’s just a really good technical footballer. He’s showed this year he’s a proper left back and he’s my choice.

Right Wing: JEREMAIN LENS

He’s probably the fastest player I’ve played with. During my last season in Holland when we did really well he was the difference for sure. When he was one-on-one on the side the forwards just went into the box because they knew he would beat his player and deliver. He was, and still is, a top top winger.

Centre Midfield: YOUSSOUF MULUMBU

It’s very comfortable to have Yousef playing in front of you. He’s good in the tackle. He’s good at protecting that space ahead of you but he’s also very good on the ball. There’s been a few times where bigger clubs have been interested in him but he’s stayed loyal and the club and the fans should be happy for his services.

Centre Midfield: KIM KALLSTROM

He had a brief spell with Arsenal last year but he didn’t do himself justice there. He’s one of the top midfielders of all time in Sweden. He will be the best left footed player I’ve played with and Brunt is in a good second place.

Left Wing: JAMES MORRISON

He’s fun to be around and like me and Chris Brunt he’s a long servant of the club. I know he doesn’t want to play on the wing but there was no room for him in central midfield. He’s go permission to go inside. It would be fun to see him play abroad sometime. I think he could do really well in Italy or Spain.

Striker: ROMELU LUKAKU

He’s strong, he’s fast and he’s a threat in the box. I can see him in three or four years as one of the best strikers in the world. He has that potential.

Striker: ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC

He was the first name on the team sheet. For me, he is the most fascinating player in the world. He’s the real deal. He’s fast, he’s strong, he’s technical, he scores goals and he sets goals up. He’s got it all. In the game against England when he scored four goals we were 3-2 up and in the 92nd minute I was thinking get the ball down and take it to the corner to buy some time. There was one man who decided to think differently and try an overhead kick and that’s why he’s such a superstar because he thinks like no one else thinks. For me it’s 10 times more entertaining with a player like Ibrahimovic on the field.
