Venky's hoping to announce new signings inside two weeks

Blackburn Rovers' owners have confirmed the club expect to announce some new signings inside the next two weeks. The club's only transfer news this summer has been the departure of England Under-21 ace Phil Jones to champions Manchester United. Blackburn have been linked with a host of names this summer, but, as yet, Venky's have not splashed out on new faces. The likes of Freiburg's Papiss Cisse and Cedric Mongongu of Monaco have been tipped to join, although it seems Rovers will not be pursuing their interest in Tottenham forward Robbie Keane. Rovers chairperson Anuradha Desai has confirmed they are looking at strikers and defenders and that Blackburn are targeting experience as well as up-and-coming stars. "We are in search of some good strikers and defenders and that will be finalised in the next two weeks," she told the Lancashire Telegraph. "We are not running behind big names. Our selection would be a proper mix of young talent and senior players."
