Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws has revealed Ipswich were interested in signing Richard Wood.
Ipswich have made a poor start to the Championship season and are currently second from bottom in the table.
Roy Keane managed to do a fair amount of business before Tuesday's transfer deadline but it has now emerged that he was also keen on Wood.
Laws says the Ipswich boss made an enquiry just before the window closed and wanted to take the defender on a permanent deal.
"A swap deal was suggested, but the way they were talking it was never going to happen," Laws told the Sheffield Star.
