Defender aiming to establish himself at Wolves

Wolves defender Darren Ward has vowed to fight for his place in the starting line-up. The former Crystal Palace player has struggled to break into the side since moving to Molineux in July. But he got a chance to the 2-0 victory over Charlton on Saturday following an injury to Gary Breen. Ward is now aiming to establish himself as a regular starter, but accepts that Mick McCarthy has other options available to him. "No player likes not being in the team and I hate it. I like playing - that's what I'm here for," he told the club's official website. "I came to Wolves to play but I wasn't going to go and sulk. That doesn't do you any good - you have to keep going because you never know when you're going to get your chance. "Make no bones about it, we have got a very good squad here - it's going to be difficult for the manager because he is going to upset people at times, but we have to get on with it. "We all want promotion and that means we all have to accept what the manager decides."
