Crawley boss and Aldershot striker honoured for October efforts

Crawley Town boss Steve Evans has been named the League Two Manager of the Month for October, with Aldershot Town striker Danny Hylton taking the player award. The Red Devils have made a seamless transition to life in the Football League following last season's promotion and won five out of six games in October. Evans' side started the month with a 2-0 home win over struggling Plymouth Argyle and backed that up with another clean sheet in the 1-0 success at Northampton Town. A 2-1 home win over Shrewsbury Town preceded a stunning 5-2 victory at fellow promoted side AFC Wimbledon before Dagenham & Redbridge were beaten 3-1 at home. The month ended with a 1-1 home draw against Accrington Stanley, with the result meaning Crawley lost top spot in the table to Southend United on goal difference. Southend boss Paul Sturrock, Cheltenham Town manager Mark Yates and Oxford's Chris Wilder were also in the running for the award. Meanwhile, Aldershot frontman Hylton was rewarded for scoring six goals in five League Two appearances with the division's monthly player honour. Hylton opened the month with a double in the defeat at Accrington Stanley, and also scored in the 2-1 losses against Macclesfield Town and Barnet before firing a brace in last weekend's 3-1 win over Crewe Alexandra.
