Michael Dawson says Hull are determined to follow up victory over Liverpool with a win over Arsenal as they seek to climb further clear of relegation trouble.

Steve Bruce's side boosted their survival hopes with victory at Crystal Palace last weekend, before recording a surprise 1-0 win over the Reds in midweek, back-to-back triumphs lifting them four points clear of the bottom three, ahead of Saturday's fixtures.

Dawson's header proved decisive against Brendan Rodgers' men and, speaking exclusively to Sky Sports ahead of a Monday Night Football visit of Arsenal, the Hull captain says his team-mates are bubbling with belief.

Two wins in a week have pushed Hull closer to safety... and Michael Dawson has finally broken his scoring drought.

"Obviously the most important thing is the three points but what we could take out of that (victory) was also the performance and the character," he said.

"We showed it at Palace, too - we knew that was a game we needed to win and I think it gave us confidence. To put back-to-back wins together in the Premier League is tough.

"We'd gone into the Palace game on the back of some bad results. Our performances weren't bad but at this time in the season, it's all about results. Thankfully it's all come together in the last couple of weeks.

"People have been writing us off with the run-in we've got but the character in the dressing room, the gaffer, the fans, the belief - we've shown that.

"We've still got a job to do. We need another win and if we can get that against Arsenal it will be a great end to the season."

Dawson ended a personal drought of more than two years when he rose to beat Simon Mignolet - and admitted he had taken some stick before his crucial intervention.

"It came a lot sooner for Hull than it did for Spurs but it was an important one," he said of his first goal of the club.

"It's funny, we were getting a bit of stick in the week, us centre-halves, for going up there and not scoring so I've been telling them: 'Two clean sheets and a goal - you've got nothing to complain about!'

"The most important thing is getting the three points and climbing up the table. Hopefully we can now look up, not down."
