Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes is waiting to hear back from Kris Boyd after he met the former Kilmarnock striker over a possible move to Pittodrie.

The 30-year-old striker is currently on holiday and considering his options ahead of the new season.

Boyd, who is available on a free transfer, spent last season at Rugby Park having moved back to Scotland following a year with MLS side Portland Timbers.

Others clubs keen to secure his signature are Dundee United and French side Nimes, while former team Rangers have dropped their interest.

McInnes told the Evening Express: "I managed to meet and talk with Kris and also talked to his agent.

"We have had a discussion and said we would like to bring another forward into the club.

"We have made a pitch of what Aberdeen can be as a club for Kris.

"Kris has a few other options and wants some time to consider them.”
