Winger set to play against Motherwell

New signing Jerome Rothen is set to make his Rangers debut in the SPL clash at Motherwell on Saturday. The 31-year-old France international was the club's first signing in more than a year when he switched from Paris St Germain on a season-long loan deal on transfer deadline day. Gers assistant boss Ally McCoist says the left-sided winger has done well in training and he should now be involved in the game at Fir Park on Saturday, which is being shown live on Sky Sports 3 and Sky Sports HD3 at 12.15pm. McCoist said: "He certainly has a big chance.

Looked fine

"He has trained for a couple of days and has looked fine. "There are a couple of bits and pieces to be sorted there but I would certainly think he would be involved at the weekend." But McCoist says Kyle Lafferty is a doubt after picking up a knee injury while on international duty with Northern Ireland. The striker limped out of the World Cup qualifier against Poland on Saturday after scoring a superb first half goal, which then forced him to sit out Wednesday's 2-0 defeat to Slovakia. Lafferty has already missed the opening three SPL games through suspension and McCoist believes he will have to wait a bit longer of make his seasonal bow for Gers. He said: "I spoke to Kyle on Monday and on Tuesday and then I gave myself a day off on Wednesday.
Progressing nicely
"I believe he is progressing very nicely. "He has seen the doc and has spoken to the physio. But I would have to say he is probably doubtful for Saturday." He added: "I watched him at the weekend and I thought he was absolutely superb. He was outstanding in the first half against Poland. "I watched the whole thing and it was another glorious failure for one of the home nations. "I thought they were magic against Poland. They deserved to win the game and should have won the game but lost a late goal as well."
