FanZone goes global

We're focussing on South Africa this summer as our FanZone bloggers take on the World Cup

Bloggers adopt a nation for duration of World Cup

This summer the World Cup will fill your screens in the absence of the domestic leagues. In the coming weeks we'll be treated to exotic names playing in matches that we'd never normally watch. All tribalism goes out of the window as we find ourselves cheering on Switzerland, Honduras and North Korea - and maybe even England as well. So FanZone will be getting into the World Cup spirit and doing likewise this June. Thirty-two of our bloggers will put away their usual team colours to adopt a country to follow for the duration of the tournament. They will become experts of their new countries and will be expected to know their Marcelo Bielsas from their Jeremy Brockies. Each of our adoptees will be blogging throughout the tournament as they follow their side through the competition and towards potential World Cup glory. Some will have their own reasons for adopting their nation, whilst others have just had their fate drawn out of a hat... But you can expect the usual wit, charm and passion throughout the tournament as we take ourselves away from the serious business of promotion and relegation and have a good time with the rest of the world in South Africa. Find out who your favourite blogger is following when we launch our new World Cup site shortly and enjoy the festival of football with us at FanZone.
