Tony Pulis is convinced that Wilson Palacios will prove to be a good investment, with the midfielder closing on full match fitness.
The Honduras international has struggled to make an impact at the Britannia Stadium following a summer switch from Tottenham.
He has been restricted to just a handful of appearances so far, with it felt that he is lacking in Premier League sharpness.
Pulis has, however, been encouraged by Palacios' recent efforts in training and believes the former Wigan and Spurs man will become a key figure in his plans.
"Wilson has looked a lot stronger and much brighter in training than he has done since he moved to the club," the Potters boss told the club's
official website.
"He has struggled with the knee problem and his general level of fitness since he's been here, which has been frustrating for all concerned, but we are confident we are over all that.
"It's important that we bide our time with Wilson, but we are hoping that when he gets in the team, he will stay there. That is the aim, whether it's this Saturday or another time."
Response
Palacios will be hoping to play a part in helping Stoke to get their season back on track, with Pulis calling for an improved collective effort following four defeats in the club's last five Premier League outings.
"We have gone from what we were to what we are now and the transition has been enormous," he said.
"We've got to adjust and deal with it and the only way we will do that is with everyone pulling together and having a go.
"That includes our great supporters, as well as the players responding. Everyone needs to be a part of it."
