French forward keen to test himself in the English top flight

Olivier Giroud has revealed that he would welcome the opportunity to turn out in the Premier League at some stage of his career. The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to England in the past, having first caught the eye at Tours. The second tier outfit were unable to hold onto him for long, with Montpellier swooping for his services in January 2010. Giroud has shone in Ligue 1 since making the step up into the French top flight and is now being talked about as a possible international star of the future. The highly-rated forward admits he would welcome the opportunity to turn out for his country should he be called upon.

Targets

He has also announced that it is his ambition to one day try his luck in a top foreign league. "Being linked with the France national team is very flattering and it confirms that I am playing well," Giroud told France Football. "I have never received a call, though, so I have no reason to feel under pressure. It is up to me to prove that I am good enough. "I have set myself the targets of becoming an international player and playing one day in England. "If I work hard, I think my efforts will be rewarded."
