Transfer news: Hannover complete signing of Joselu from Hoffenheim

Hannover have signed Spanish forward Joselu from Bundesliga rivals Hoffenheim for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan from Hoffenheim at Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring 14 goals in 33 appearances.

He will fill the void left by the departure of Mame Biram Diouf, who opted not to extend his contract beyond the summer and becomes a free agent at the end of the month, with Stoke expected to be his next destination.

"Joselu really made a name for himself last season with some exceptional performances," said Hannover director of sport Dirk Dufner.

"Our aim was to sign a striker with quality and Bundesliga experience, but at the same time somebody who still had room for improvement, and that is why we're so happy that Joselu is now a Hannover player."

The former Celta Vigo and Real Madrid forward has been in the Bundesliga for the past two seasons and scored five goals during his maiden campaign with Hoffenheim before his switch to Frankfurt last summer.

"My aim was to move to a club with clear ambitions," Joselu said. "At Hannover, I'm joining a great team with an ambitious coach.

"The talks I held with (president) Martin Kind, Dirk Dufner and (coach) Tayfun Korkut convinced me that I can take the next step in my career here and that I fit in perfectly with the team and their philosophy of playing.

"I am going to be part of a team which would like to play attractive football and are hungry for success.

"I want to pay back my delight in being here in the form of goals and I can't wait to get started, and for my first game in a Hannover shirt."
