Bundesliga leaders attempt to keep together young squad

Hoffenheim defender Matthias Jaissle has signed a one-year contract extension to keep him at the Bundesliga leaders until 2011. The 20-year-old has played in eight of the surprise leaders' ten league matches this term and his fine performances have not gone unnoticed by the club's management. Hoffenheim coach Ralf Rangnick praised the youngster's attitude and improvement. He said: "He has continued to develop his game in nearly every area and has an amazing thirst for knowledge." The contract extension comes after the club also gave a new deal to midfielder Sejad Salihovic earlier this week as they atttempt to keep together a young squad which has taken the Bundesliga by storm this season.
