Midfielder happy with move

Sky Sports understands former Swansea midfielder Scott Donnelly is poised to rejoin old club Aldershot. The 24-year-old is available as a free agent after being released by the Swans over the summer. Donnelly came to prominence at Aldershot and during his three seasons at the club helped them win promotion to the Football League. The attacking midfielder's form at Aldershot helped him win the move to Swansea, but due to injury he struggled to make an impact at the Liberty Stadium. Donnelly suffered cruciate ligament damage whilst on loan at Wycombe in 2011, but he is now back to full fitness and is happy to sign a short-term deal with Dean Holdsworth's side. "It's taken a while to get things done, but I can't wait to get started and play some games again as it's been a while," Donnelly told skysports.com. "Some clubs seem to have had an issue with the fact that I was injured last season, but nowadays a cruciate injury is something that players come back from and in fact more often than not they come back even stronger than before. "[Mikel) Arteta did his cruciate, came back, and shortly after moved to one of the biggest clubs in the world (Arsenal), [Phil] Jagielka also did his cruciate, came back, and established himself as a regular in the England squad, and I see no reason why I can't do the same and come back better than before, and I appreciate Dean Holdsworth having the faith in me and giving me that chance."
