Cameroon opened a three point lead at the top of Group 1 in the African section of World Cup 2010 qualification with a 3-0 victory over Mauritius on Sunday.
The result was never in doubt as goals from Andre Bikey, Samuel Eto'o and Gustave Bebey Mbangue wrapped up a comfortable victory for Cameroon.
Reading defender Bikey put Cameroon in front on 12 minutes and then Barcelona star Eto'o, who limped off in the second half, doubled the lead before the interval.
After the break, Mbangue sealed the win to allow Cameroon to move clear of second-placed Cape Verde Islands.
Elsewhere,
Ivory Coast were held to a surprise 0-0 draw with
Madagascar in Group 7 in Antananarivo.
The group determines progression to both the World Cup in two years' time and the Africa Cup of Nations, but Ivory Coast were unable to find a way past their unfancied opponents.
Ivory Coast were able to call upon the likes of Kolo Toure, Didier Zokora and Abdoulaye Meite, but the defensive tactics of Madagascar's German coach German Franz Gerber proved too strong.
The draw maintains Ivory Coast's place at the top of the group with four points recorded from two matches played.
Junior Agogo scored twice as
Ghana continued their winning start to qualifying with a 3-2 victory over
Lesotho in Bloemfontein.
The Nottingham Forest striker's double followed the opening goal from Hearts winger Laryea Kingston, whose long-range shot after 15 minutes caught out Lesotho goalkeeper Sam Ketsekile.
Agogo sprung the offside trap to increase the score four minutes from half-time and then climbed unmarked to head home a 63rd-minute corner.
Lesotho scored a dramatic two goals inside 60 seconds at the end of the game, the first coming from Sello Muso and then a stinging long-range shot from captain Lehlohonolo Seema.
Ghana stay top of Group 5 after beating Libya 3-0 in Kumasi last weekend.
Swaziland recorded the shock of the day as they stunned
Togo 2-1 at the Somhlolo National Stadium.
Siza Dlamini gave Swaziland the lead on 55 minutes and Collen Salelwako added a second 18 minutes before the final whistle.
Togo, who had Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor in their first XI, netted a late consolation through Adekamni Olufade, but Swaziland held on to draw level with their hosts at the top of Group 11.
In Group 6,
Senegal maintained their place at the top of the table with a goalless draw with
Gambia, but the 2002 quarter-finalists were fortunate to escape with a point after Abdel Mangane was dismissed for two yellow cards.
