PSV to seal Amrabat deal

PSV Eindhoven are set to seal the signing of VVV Venlo striker Nordin Amrabat.

Starlet set for Eindhoven

PSV Eindhoven are set to seal the signing of VVV Venlo striker Nordin Amrabat. The likes of Heerenveen and Hamburg have also been tracking the 20-year-old, but PSV are set to hand him a five-year deal at The Phillips Stadion. Heerenveen had been hoping to sign Amrabat as a replacement for Afonso Alves - but now PSV have emerged as firm favourites to clinch his signature. "In general clubs sit on the fence for a long time. But they wanted to have Amrabat, they had to do something quickly after the concrete interest of Heerenveen," said VVV chairman Hai Berden. Amrabat, who is a Dutch Under-21 international, has scored eight goals this season and is rated as one of the best young talents in Holland.

Marcellis deal

Meanwhile, PSV have also secured the signature of one of their current young talents in the shape of Dirk Marcellis. The 19-year-old defender has agreed a new four-year contract with the club. "I'm very pleased with it, it is looking good for me," he told the club's website. In yet another boost for PSV - Ecuadorian midfielder Edison Mendez has announced his retirement from international football, opting to concentrate on his club duties.
