Defender impresses after training with Bundesliga outfit

Werder Bremen are taking a close look at Australian international Mark Milligan. The 23-year-old FC Sydney player has been training with the German giants and Werder sports director Klaus Allofs admits the defender could be a potential target. "He is a young and interesting man and we have been watching him for some time," Allofs told the club's official website. "He played well at the Olympic Games and is extremely flexible in defensive positions." Milligan, who regularly captained the Australian Under-23 team, also flew out with the full national squad in the World Cup 2006 but failed to feature in the Germany tournament.
