Spanish interest in Parma

Barcelona are the latest club to join the race to sign Parma players.

Barcelona are the latest club to join the race to sign Parma players.

Manager Frank Rijkaard has expressed interest in two of Parma's defensive line-up in the shape of Daniele Bonera and Cesare Bovo.

Bonera has been the subject of much speculation since last summer.

He had been linked to Juventus, Roma and a handful of clubs outside Italy but ultimately decided to stay with Gialloblu.

Bovo has also attracted a lot of interest following his exemplary display with the Italy Under-21 squad.

Barcelona representatives reportedly had an informal meeting with Parma officials during the Spanish giant's outing in Milan in the UEFA Champions League.

Although no negotiations are thought to be in progress, if a transfer occurred, neither player would be eligible to play for Barcelona in European competition.

Bonera and Bovo have both played for Parma in the Uefa Cup and thus would not be available to feature in UEFA Champions League football.
