Catania striker Jorge Martinez has been left out of Oscar Tabarez's 23-man squad for the World Cup.

Rodriguez and Gonzalez also fail to make cut

Catania striker Jorge Martinez has been left out of coach Oscar Tabarez's 23-man squad for the World Cup in South Africa. Martinez has recently been linked with a move to Lazio, but will not get the chance to showcase his talent on a global stage after being dropped by Tabarez. From his provisional 26-man squad, Tabarez has also decided to leave midfield duo Jorge Rodriguez and Alvaro Gonzalez out of his plans. Rodriguez and Gonzalez had been unexpected inclusions in the preliminary party but have been unable to force their way into the final squad.
