Macclesfield captain Paul Morgan is set to miss the rest of the season after suffering a suspected broken wrist.
The experienced defender was forced off during Tuesday's 2-1 win at Morecambe and taken straight to hospital after falling awkwardly on his right arm.
Morgan missed the start of the season after breaking the same wrist last summer and the 32-year-old still has a plate in his right arm.
Vice-captain Nat Brown, who was handed the armband at Morecambe, feels for his defensive partner as he had only recently returned from an ankle injury.
But he is confident the Silkmen will manage without Morgan as they aim to secure their League status for another season.
Unlucky
"It's unlucky for Morg, he's back for 10 games and then he gets injured again," Brown told
skysports.com.
"When he's out there he gives 100 per cent. He broke his arm while making a good tackle but we all wish the lad good luck.
"It's a big blow. Morg's a great inspiration to the team when he plays.
"But I think we've got a good find in Tony Diagne, the young lad at centre-back, so with him in the team I think we're capable of covering for Paul Morgan."
Diagne showed his versatility by switching from left-back to the centre of defence at Morecambe.
The 20-year-old Frenchman has made 12 appearances since signing in January and Brown believes the former Nottingham Forest trainee will go on to bigger things.
"Tony's got good ability, we've got a few kids who could play at a higher level and I think he will," he added.
"I'll give him as much advice as I can because he's a young lad but I could still learn from him too."
