Defender signs two-year deal to replace Coughlan

Rotherham United have signed Nick Fenton from League Two rivals Grimsby Town on a free transfer. Fenton was placed on the transfer list by Grimsby at the end of last season following two years at Blundell Park. He has now agreed a two-year deal with Rotherham and manager Mark Robins feels the 28-year-old will be a useful replacement for Graham Coughlan. "We were looking for an experienced replacement for Graham Coughlan and Nick will come in and provide us with that," Robins told the club's official website.

Threat

"He will be a threat in both penalty areas and he brings with him a wealth of experience, which includes a Wembley appearance in last season's Johnstone's Paint Trophy. "That is the kind of background that we need for the situation that we are in at the moment." Fenton scored and was sent off for Grimsby in last season's 2-1 defeat at Rotherham, and he could make his Millers bow against Lincoln on Saturday.
