Striker switches to Ewood Park in £8million deal

Blackburn Rovers have confirmed their club record £8m deal to sign striker Jordan Rhodes. As revealed by Sky Sports, the Scotland striker has switched from Championship rivals Huddersfield Town on a five-year deal. The 22-year-old has become the club's ninth signing of the summer as they seek to bounce back to the top-flight at the first time of asking. Blackburn boss Steve Kean is delighted to have finally landed his man.

Top class

"Jordan is a top class striker and we are absolutely delighted to bring him in," he said. "His record is there for all to see and I believe he can play a major role in our drive for promotion back to the Premier League." Rhodes scored 87 goals in 148 appearances for the Yorkshire side after joining the club from Ipswich Town in July 2009, firing them into the Championship via the League One play-offs in May. Huddersfield finally accepted Blackburn's fourth bid for the striker earlier on Thursday, with Rhodes then travelling to the North West for a medical and to discuss personal terms.
