Midfielder '95 per cent' to stay put

Rennes have confirmed that Yann M'Vila will not be moving to England. After Arsenal and Manchester City both failed to follow up initial interest earlier in the summer, Rennes have revealed that the final interest from England was from Tottenham and they pulled out on Thursday evening. President Frederic de Saint Sernin says that barring a bid from Russia or Ukraine, the France international will be staying put. "He will not be in England," Sernin told RMC. "Tottenham passed on the player at 19:30 on Thursday. "He is 95 per cent likely to remain with Rennes, unless a Russian or Ukrainian club make an offer - sporting wise that would not be attractive but economically it would be very positive." M'Vila is already reported to have turned down an approach from Russian champions Zenit St Petersburg. Both the French and Russian windows do not close until next week, so he could still leave next month.
