Sky Sports understands Bristol Rovers winger Mustapha Carayol is undergoing a medical at Middlesbrough ahead of sealing his move to the Riverside.
Rovers boss Mark McGhee revealed earlier this week that the two clubs were close to agreeing a deal for the 23-year-old.
Middlesbrough have been chasing Carayol all summer and look to have fended off interest from a number of other clubs for the player's signature.
Carayol has impressed for Rovers since his move from Lincoln last summer and the League Two club were facing a losing battle keeping hold of the attacker.
Boro boss Tony Mowbray has been busy in the transfer market this summer and he hopes to tie up a deal for Carayol as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion.
