Agent reiterates midfielder is staying at Anfield

The agent of Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani insists a return to AC Milan would be 'impossible' for the Italian this summer. Speculation continues to surround the future of the 28-year-old despite the assertions of his agent, Nicolas Zavaglia, that he will be part of the Liverpool first-team squad for next season under new boss Brendan Rodgers. Aquilani signed for the Reds from his hometown club Roma before the 2009-10 campaign but his debut season was hindered by injury and lack of form. The Italy international, who is contracted at Anfield until 2014, has spent the last two seasons on loan in Serie A with Juventus and AC Milan.

No return

He has been linked with a permanent move to the San Siro this summer after making 23 league appearances for the Rossoneri last term, scoring one goal. But Zavaglia has ruled out Aquilani going back to Milan and has stressed he will remain on Merseyside. He told calcionews24.com: "A return to AC Milan? I would say that at this point it is an impossible track to follow. "The player will stay at Liverpool. He has a contract and therefore there won't be any news." Asked if any other clubs are interested in the Italian, his agent said: "I repeat, Aquilani will remain at Liverpool."
