Palace youngster set for move to the Premier League

Sky Sports sources understand Southampton have been given permission by Crystal Palace to speak to Nathaniel Clyne. Clyne is out of contract at Selhurst Park but Palace are still entitled to a fee for the 21-year-old defender. Saints boss Nigel Adkins wants to give the highly-rated full-back an opportunity in the Premier League and is keen to secure a bargain deal for the London-born player. The England Under 21 international has played more than 100 games for the Eagles since coming through the youth system and had previously been linked with a move to Manchester United. Palace manager Dougie Freedman is reluctant to lose Clyne but realises the club have no option and the player is determined to leave.
