Middlesbrough agree deal with Coventry for striker

Sky Sports understands Middlesbrough are closing in on the signing of Coventry striker Lukas Jutkiewicz. A deal is understood to have been agreed between the two clubs with the player set to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms. Jutkiewicz has been Coventry's shining light in a disappointing season to date, scoring nine goals for the Championship strugglers Jutkiewicz's future at Coventry has been the subject of speculation for some time with a number of clubs chasing the highly-rated 22-year-old. Southampton and West Ham have been credited with an interest in the former Everton youngster, but it appears Middlesbrough are set to win the race for Jutkiewicz. Jutkiewicz has been a long-term transfer target for Boro boss Tony Mowbray and they are believed to have tried to sign the player in the summer. Mowbray has been looking to bring in a new striker to bolster his side's bid for promotion and it appears he is close to landing Jutkiewicz.
