Gusev under fire from chief

Rolan Gusev is the latest player to come under fire from the Russian media after comments made by the country's Football Union president Vyacheslav Koloskov.

Following the controversial decision to send Alexander Mostovoi home, winger Gusev was named by newspaper Kommersant as the player being blasted by Koloskov in a no-holds-barred interview.

"Actually, there were two players who only pretended to give their all on the pitch," said Koloskov.

"Mostovoi was one of them but, if you're unhappy, why didn't you say so beforehand?

"Why did you play?

"I won't name him (the second player), but you can draw your own conclusions based on the substitutions that were made."

Gusev, who was withdrawn at half time, is the player identified by Kommersant as the guilty party.
