Nigerian striker Obafemi Martins scored two goals as the Seattle Sounders extended New York City FC's winless streak with a 3-1 victory in Major League Soccer on Sunday.
Clint Dempsey added another goal for Seattle, as they won their third straight game and fourth in their last five.
NYCFC have not won since beating the New England Revolution 2-0 at home on March 15, losing five and drawing two of their seven games since then.
Former Newcastle star Martins latched onto a through ball from Marco Pappa and slotted a breakaway goal in the 23rd minute to put Seattle ahead.
Mehdi Ballouchy levelled for New York in the 54th minute when he fired home from the edge of the area after good work from Patrick Mullins.
But ex-Fulham forward Dempsey restored the Sounders' advantage just a minute later when he poked the ball into the far corner and Martins sealed the win in the 66th minute when he beat goalkeeper Josh Saunders after receiving a back-heel pass from Dempsey.
In Sunday's other game, Paulo Nagamura headed in a goal in the 75th minute to lead Sporting Kansas City to a 1-0 win over the Chicago Fire.
Sporting KC were securing their first win since April 5, while Chicago saw their three-game winning streak halted.
