DC United moved clear at the top of the MLS Eastern Conference with a 2-1 win over Toronto FC.

Nick DeLeon put DC in front before English import Luke Moore equalised for the hosts, but Perry Kitchen wrapped up the victory with 20 minutes remaining.

Toronto's disappointment was compounded when Nick Hagglund was sent off for a second bookable offence late on, and they were unable to celebrate Michael Bradley's return from the World Cup with even a point.

The win takes DC three points clear of Sporting Kansas City, who are in action against the Chicago Fire on Sunday and will move back to the top with a victory thanks to their superior goal difference.

In the Western Conference, the Seattle Sounders' four-game unbeaten run came to an end with a 1-0 defeat against the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place.

The Conference leaders had won three and drawn one in an impressive recent run, but Sebastian Fernandez's first half strike was enough to earn the Whitecaps only their sixth win of the season.

And the Montreal Impact got just their third win of the season as Erick Torres' last-gasp strike earned a 1-0 win at Chivas USA.
