Manchester United have signed little-known Bolton defender Andy Kellett on loan until the end of the season.

Kellett has made just four senior appearances for Bolton - though less than 90 minutes of action in total. Until three weeks ago he was on loan at Plymouth Argyle, who he made 15 appearances for in a three-month spell - scoring one spectacular goal in which he slalomed through most of the Northampton team before scoring.

Kellett, 21, moves to Old Trafford as midfielder Saidy Janko, who joined Manchester United in September 2013 from FC Zurich, goes the other way, also on loan.

Janko has yet to make a senior appearance for United, and the Swiss 19-year-old will now have the chance to push for first-team football with Bolton.

Kellett is United's third signing of the January transfer window, following moves for Sadiq El Fitouri and former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

He is likely to be part of the United U21 squad, managed by Warren Joyce, which is pushing for the U21 Premier League title.
