Leeds United head coach Darko Milanic said he does not feel under any pressure to secure his first win in charge of the club when they face Reading on Wednesday in his first game at Elland Road.

Milanic became club owner Massimo Cellino's third permanent head coach at Leeds in under four months last week when he replaced the sacked David Hockaday and launched his tenure with a 2-0 defeat at Brentford on Saturday.

Former Cagliari owner Cellino is known as the manager-eater in Italy - he sacked 36 in 22 years - but despite the departure of former Leeds boss Brian McDermott in May and Hockaday's ill-fated six-game stint in charge, Milanic said he was excited by the challenge.

"He (Cellino) said to me when we met for the first time that he wanted to give me time to improve the squad, this is my job," the 46-year-old Slovenian said.

"But if I don't win the games, that's normal for the coach. I'm prepared.

"We talked to each other and he said to me that I have to improve the squad and that I have to win. I know this.

"I want to win (on Wednesday). I want to win the games. Then we are all happy and then you have energy to do everything.

"If you win, everything is okay. (On Wednesday) we have a very difficult game, but I hope we do it.

"Before the game against Brentford I had only three sessions with the team.

"You cannot do a lot. I want to train, if I train with the team then I can give them my ideas."

Academy boss Neil Redfearn took charge of the side following Hockaday's sacking and steered Leeds to three wins and a draw to lift them into the top half of the table.

Milanic's appointment appears to have stalled that momentum and the former Sturm Graz boss found that difficult to fathom.

"I am prepared for the next game. I've been focused on that," he added.

"The first thing we have to do better is bring a lot of energy.

"We must be a team and think like a team. I know that Reading are very quick and dynamic and we have to play with a lot of tempo.

"In football it is difficult to explain. Why you have tempo today but tomorrow you have none, it's very difficult to explain.

"We have to prepare for this game better and we have to put ourselves in it 100 per cent."

Milanic has no new injury worries but said he could make one or two tactical changes, while defender Gaetano Berardi is still suspended.
