Burnley have confirmed promising defender Ben Mee has signed a new three-year contract at Turf Moor.

The 24-year-old was an influential figure for the Clarets last season - helping them to 19 clean sheets and second place in the Sky Bet Championship to clinch promotion to the Premier League.

Mee said: "I'm absolutely delighted to sign for another three years here. I've enjoyed my time so far and hopefully we can have many more seasons like the last one and achieve more things.

It was an easy decision to make, I’ve enjoyed my time here, particularly under Sean Dyche and it’s been a great time since I joined.

"It was an easy decision to make, I’ve enjoyed my time here, particularly under Sean Dyche and it's been a great time since I joined. I've settled here really well and I feel right at home here with the fans and all the lads."

On the club's promotion glory last season, Mee added: "It was definitely the highlight of my career. It's always been a dream of mine to play in the Premier League and hopefully that will be realised this season.

"I'm always improving now and I’m coming into a good age in terms of playing a lot of games. I just want to kick on and show everyone what I can do.

"Last season was a fantastic season for all the lads and we need to go on, push on and top that now which would be really nice. But of course I look back on the promotion really fondly and the 2013/14 campaign will always hold great memories!"
