Turid Knaak’s double helped Arsenal to within touching distance of a FA WSL Continental Cup semi-final place after a comprehensive 7-0 victory over London Bees.

The Gunners were cruising by half-time in Thursday’s Group One clash after goals from Freda Ayisi, Knaak and Casey Stoney.

And further goals from Danielle Carter, on-loan German midfielder Knaak and a late Alex Scott double ensured the hosts go into Sunday’s final group fixture against Millwall ahead of Chelsea on goal difference.

Ayisi broke the deadlock after just 22 seconds, waltzing into the penalty area straight from kick-off and striking in off the post.

Knaak then opened her Gunners account two minutes later with a simple finish from eight yards.

Stoney made it three as she rose the highest to meet Jordan Nobbs’ corner after 25 minutes.

Carter added a fourth as she bundled into the net after rounding Cherrie Rowlands at the start of the second period.

Knaak got her second latching onto a ball from Carter, after a great run, in the penalty area and finishing high into the net.

London Bees, who travel to Chelsea on Sunday, registered their first, and only, effort on goal in the 80th minute through Lucy Loomes but Arsenal captain Alex Scott rounded the match off with two goals in the final ten minutes.
