David Dunn will soon be out of contract at Blackburn Rovers, but he has no intention of hanging up his boots just yet.
The one-cap England international is now 34 years of age and has endured his fair share of injuries in recent times.
He was, however, able to make 24 appearances in a 2013/14 campaign disrupted by a double knee operation.
Dunn feels that return proves that he is still capable of holding his own at a Championship level.
Fresh terms at Ewood Park, taking him into a 14th season with his home-town club, have been mooted, but for now the talented midfielder is keeping all of his options open.
Dunn said in the Lancashire Telegraph: “I want to keep playing.
“I felt my form last season was pretty good so while my body still feels up to playing, I want to focus on that.
“I’ve done my A licence and coaching is something I’ll look to do in the future, but I certainly feel I’ve still got to offer a lot as a player.
“And if I can play another 20-odd games next season, and my body still feels up to it, I would like to carry on after that.”
Dunn will officially become a free agent on June 30, but Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer has expressed a desire to keep him on past that point.
He said in May: “I want to keep him.
“I think everybody knows my opinion on David Dunn and what he is to Blackburn Rovers.”
